Me and my husband just got married on August 2nd of this year. We have been together for 8 years since before he was incarcerated so we thought we might as well go ahead and tie the knot. We were going to wait til he got out but the time seemed right so we went ahead with it. He talked to his counselor and it took less then 2months to get it approved and finished.
It was a simple ceremony and there was only one guard present but she pretty much stayed to herself. VA gives you one hour visitation after the wedding and it went alright. We will renew our vows when he is released because that will be the year of our 5th anniv. so it worked out pretty good.
I am happy that we made the decision to go ahead with the marriage but I do admit it was much harder leaving this visit then any before and it does seem like something is missing. I know the honeymoon and wedding night thing would make it seem more real but that will come soon enough.
Congratulations...hugs and blessings to you both!!

Yes, the Old Testament (Exodus 21:23-28 said "an eye for an eye"...BUT Jesus says in the New Testement (Mathew 5:38 - 48) to love one another..to forgive and turn the other cheek. So, what right does the state have to execute???
Congratulations!! Sounds like you have been a great team for the last 8 years. I know he is glad to now have his "wifey" waiting for him when he comes home. Here's to an early release!!
