Howdy all--- I just read in the Friday edition of the Chester newspaper that Menard is getting 9.2 million dollars to make repairs to the administrations building and around the facility. Thanks to the news bill that Gov. Ryan signed or whatever that was I forget. So now the shower room that Ron goes to maybe they will fix the water system in there that way if it don't work they don't have to go without a shower that week. If any of you all are interested in seeing this just go to this site www.suntimesnews.com and Click onto Chester. The site even shows two different pictures of the place and where it shows facilities you could probably roll up your facility and see a picture of it as well. It also shows that IDOC will not be transfering or hiring in the near future. "Darn, there goes my chance at being Ron's C/O!"
Just thought you'd like this bit of info.--Hey, maybe where your guy is at has a newspaper with a website. Then maybe you could see if they get any money either, worth a try!
Until later all Illinoisians----BYE-BYE!
What happened to them being broke!?!?
"Repairs around the administration building and the facility"... I am betting the administration building will get top priority and not the segregation unit, huh??
Sorry... feeling a little.... I don't know.... Cynical?!?
Thanks for the link though Michelle... I gotta put that in my fav places and check it out from time to time....
Too funny.... I went to check out the site and check out the latest news....

New administration building in the plans at Menard
Bids will be taken in either January or February for a new administration building at the Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
The governor signed a bill last week authorizing $9.2 million dollars toward the project. According to a story in this morning’s County Journal newspaper, the project could take up to two and a half years to complete. The total cost is around $15 million.
For over 100 years, the administration building has served the Menard Correctional Center. The building was constructed in 1878. The building houses the administration of the correctional center.
During the construction of the new administration building, administrative offices will have to be moved into another building or by building temporary offices. The current building is connected to some cell houses and a spokesman for the Department of Corrections said security would not be a problem during the construction of the new administration building.
Because the state is putting so much money into the prison, one could speculate that the future of the Menard Correctional Center is pretty good.
