Question sending money

Hello all, new here and in need of any help. I'm in CT and boyfriend extradited to Rikers c-95. does any know when sending Money can you include in a letter or you have to send to a different address. In CT there is a P.O. Box for inmates trust funds. Just trying to see how it is in NY, Thanx for your help

I would say look up the Department of Corrections website for the state he is in, there should be some information regarding this on their website

You can drop off cash while visiting at Rikers, as for sending it in I think you can but I am not sure of the process. I always dropped it off during visits. I will move this post to the NY forum so you can get the answers you need.

Okay I can handle this question from my experience. Yes you mail it to him in a letter make sure it is made out to him and has his inmate id number on it too.

I'd add to lalulip's and bella's info that if you send money, money orders work fastest. If you send personal checks they will hold them for the usual 10 business days while the check clears.

I need help, I am in Germany my brother is detained in metropolitan detention center in Brooklyn I canīt send money per Money postal order or into the letter, the last money that I sendet into a letter didnīt arrived to my brother, he received only my message but any more.

Faro, do you have any family or friends in the US anywhere that you can call and ask them if they can mail him a money order and you can repay them? That would be the best thing to do since you cant get a money order yourself. when you send cash, most of the time it doesn't get to them cause they recieve their mail already opened.

i always sent cash. i put his book and case number on it and sent it addressed to him. they open the mail infront of him and we never had a problem. that was it is available immediatly for him to use. the money orders take 10 days to clear...

U CAN SEND A MONEY ORDER.. and PUT HIS NAME ON IT... BUT MAKE SURE SEND IT VIA UPS> SO U CAN TRACK IF HE GOT IT OR NOT>>>
