Shortning prison years

I have a friend who is in prison for a 10 year sentence. The judge that he had told him he should be recommened for judicial review in 5 years. Since he has been in prison he has heard talk about a law making the time less for inmates. Instead of 12 months is a year, it will be 8 months will be a years. Is there anybody out there who have loved ones or know someone in prison who has talked about this law or heard about this law. From what he told me it has gone into effect in some others states, but I can't remember what states he told me about. Please let me know if anyone has heard about this.

Maybe you're thinking of what is sometimes called "good time" where they take off a day or two for every so many days served. I think all states have varying degrees of good time they give but on some sentences, I don't think it applies.

There should be someone coming along real soon to give you more help with this.

I AM NOT SURE ABOUT OHIO, BUT I KNOW HERE IN ILLINOIS THEY GET DAY FOR DAY.OF COURSE THE INMATE HAS TO BE ELIGABLE FOR IT.MY HUSBAND WAS SENTANCED TO 3 1/2 YRS HE HAS TO SERVE 1 YR AND 9 MOS THE TIME SERVED CREDIT WAS DOUBLED. SO THE ONLY WAY TO REALLY FIND OUT WOULD BE TO ASK HIS LAWYER OR PUBLIC PRETENDER.LOL.THATS WHAT WE CALL THE PUBLIC DEFENDER . I HOPE I WAS SOME HELP. GOOD LUCK

my husband was sentenced to 3yrs 8months in california says he has to do 2yrs 6months. He has been in protective custody for 8months so he is locked up 20 plus hours a day he is receiving credit for hard time served ?
