I posted on 3/15, regarding the Harris Co. jail and how terrible that place is. We were told my 17 yr. old son would be there for 3 - 4 mos (if not longer) until transferred to his SAFP unit. I went to visit him tonite, guess what?!? HE'S BEEN TRANSFERRED! I have to admit, I was totally not expecting to be told that when I was called up to the deputy's window. I'm so sad we didn't get to say bye, but we knew it would happen this way, just weren't expecting it at this time. He's been in county since 2/06/07. I just wanted to share this news with everyone. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Glad to see some progress happening. I know it's hard when you don't get the chance to say good bye. When my husband was transferred to TDCJ last August, I showed up to visit him on a Monday and the guard at the window told me that they had just taken him not 45 minutes ago. I was so sad, I cried all the way home. It'll be all right, at least he is starting his program which is one step closer to coming back home to you.
God bless and hang in there you have friends who know what you are going through here on PTO.

I know it was hard not having the chance to say goodbye. The positive is that is has finally started SAFP and the journey has begun. You can now estimate when he will finally be home! I went through a similar experience with my son and harris county and also SAFP. My oldest son was scheduled to go visit his brother, it just happened that my son in jail was told he was being transferred and he was able to get a quick phone call home to tell his brother not to come, because he was leaving. I was planning on visiting the next evening. The best advice I can give now is to breathe and be patient. He will be able to notify you as to where they have taken him. Let me know if there is any questions I can answer for you. I have been through the whole journey. My son is now home and finished with all that was required, except completing the probation portion. Good luck.
