Can anyone tell me why people who are incarcerated and kept in protective custody arent allowed to get any good behavior, work credit, time off thier sentence. I know most in protective custody dont have a job but my BF is the teaching assistant and wont get any extra time off his sentence for it. He said thats normal for protective custody???
Annie
Annie, what jail is he in?? Kris is in protective custody and he is only going to have to serve 4 of his six months. As far as I know they usually only have the inmate do at least 85% of their time. Irregardless of being in protective custody or not. I wish I could tell ya more but that is all I know. Hang in there and I will research it more but I need to know if he is in State, or county lock up.

Hi Tigger
He's in LA County Mens Central jail and got 1 year. He did get some time off since his release date is 10/24/02- he's doing 8 1/2 months. But arent they suppose to be able to earn more time off with good behavior, programs done, etc....?? Maybe I am wrong....the public defender kept telling us he would only do 6 months, but I figured that wouldnt happen, and I was right. The guys in general population arent doing 85% they are doing closer to 70%. Annie

update: BF time is actually at 70% but general population is serving about 5 months for a year sentence. He isnt eligible for that because of his charge being considered a crime of "violence". (Thats news to me) Annie
