I just found out there is a new way to ingest alcohol that has shown up on my space and a few other places. There is even an actual video of someone shooting Vodka on my space. I found this was being done because I was doing some research after discovering some syringes in my sons pockets while he was in the hospital and at his home, prior to him going back to prison. He is back in now, but had been busted for drinking and driving again after a botched operation and getting hooked on pain meds.
Long story that I wont go into here.
I was shocked to discover that some people are actually injecting Vodka directly into the bloodstream. From what I read it gives a very fast high for very little money. It is very dangerous and can cause infections. It goes straight to the heart and brain because of being injected. Because it only takes small amounts it does not have any odor from the skin or breath.
I heard my nephew tell the counselor about 3 weeks ago that he would shoot up vodka when he couldn't get drugs!! I was so shocked. It is a quick high for them.
I was helping him find a place for rehab. At 47 his life is over half gone and he wasted it, on drugs. At least for the past 27 yrs. Such a waste of talent and he has a wonderful personality. But lie! Steal, what ever to get the next hit.
So sad. No matter how it's taken, it just messes them up. I just took away 2 bottles my bf had bought and hidden. I know it doesn't do any good cause he will just go out and buy more, but sometimes I just can't stand it anymore. I sure hope he doesn't find out about shooting the vodka (his drug of choice).
Zoe--don't worry about how many bottles he brings home and/or hides. Hopefully you've made it clear how you feel about his drinking and if he wants to stop, there's help out there. If he doesn't, there really isn't anything any of us can do about it. The main thing is to not let his illness become yours. And if you can't stand it any more, he'd either going to have to sober up or you're not going to be able to stay under one roof.
As you say, taking his bottles away isn't going to help. It's not the bottles that are sick!
Hang in there--there are lots of folks here who know what a rough road it can be (from both sides).
"If Darlie Routier is really innocent, that only proves that I am a great lawyer" --Greg Davis, Dallas County Prosecutor, during a broadcast interview.
This is my first time hearing about alcohol injections...I am speechless, I knew of someone who was addicted to heroin, when she injected, she became ill due to a bacteria infection which formed an absess at the injection site. She had to have surgery, skin grafts, and an on slaught of IV antibiotics to fight the infection to prevent the colonization of bacteria near her heart.
Although this is the first time I am hearing about alcohol injections, a friend of mine that was in a nursing home said there was a patient with a G-tube (gastric feeding tube) who would pour a fews beers down it to catch a buzz. It's interesting to learn what addicts will do for their next "high". Sad....

I find this EXTREMELY disturbing!!! And to think I was so upset by knowing kids crush and snort caffeine tablets... Thank God it's not my daughter! (God willing-please- not ever)
Wow some how we have to try and get this evil drug issue out of all our lives, my brother is 47 and in prison again. I am trying to support him, it's hard since you try and believe them when they say they are changing and they don't. He is entering a program in prison I hope it helps him, becuase he is a great guy just drugs have ruled his life.
