Maybe I should have asked y'all before I did it, but I wrote a letter to my husband who's in Harris County jail, and had it express-mailed so it'd get there the next day, guaranteed.
When a letter is express mailed through USPS, they have to put it in this kind of big cardboard envelope... I later looked at the Harris County Inmate Info page, at what kind of mail they can receive, and it said "no packages"!!
Do you think they'll regard this as a package and just "Return to Sender" my letter, which I spent $14 to have sent to him ASAP??!!
I wouldn't have been in such a hurry, but I just told my parents (who have a land-line he can call collect) what's going on, and I want to hear from him NOW!!!! I don't know what's going on down there!!! (I live in Mississippi.)
Not sure about Harris County, but I mailed a letter the same way to my grandson, here in Erath County. After I mailed it I called them and asked if they would accept it and they said yes. Maybe someone familiar with Harris County will come along and know.
Yeah... I thought about calling there and telling them what I was sending, but it would have arrived yesterday, so if they were gonna get rid of it, they probably already have.
pacakages are one thing mail is another . By packages i believe they meant you cant send them anything other than mail. Im sure they allowed him to have it you should call up there and ask
I'm not so worried about it anymore... I've decided to go ahead and fly out there anyway... I can get so much more done (if there is anything to be done) out there than from Mississippi (where I live).
