What does "Returned to court authority on release" mean? I have two friends who show up that way on a prison search and I have no idea what the heck it means. I get "parole district" and "day treatment" and "probation" but what gives? It's especially important now, because a friend who is in this status is ALSO in Marion County jail (again) for a similar case. Is this like a parole/probation violation thingee?

You got it it is for violation. And they are returned to see what is next for them. They are either already serving their sentences or they are waiting to see if they are released again or if they have to just serve it out. Koodles to you Kris
