Question Getting to the Correctional Facilities

Getting to the Correctional Facilities
This is a place where I would like people to post how to get to certain facilities that they have been to, how it was, like the clothing, the security, what you can bring, where they are coming from, how did they travel and so on. Also, someone who is looking for any of this information. I have been to Attica and Rickers Island from NYC. I am in the process of traveling to Upstate Correc. Fac. to see a loved one. Thanks to everyone. :fb:

Default Getting to Bedford from Long Island

Directions to Bedford (from Long Island)

(It is important to watch the mileage between points, otherwise you can miss an exit VERY easily)

Merge onto LONG ISLAND EXWY/I-495 W toward NEW YORK.

Take the CROSS ISLAND PKWY NORTH exit- exit number 30N- toward WHITESTONE BR. 0.14 miles

Take the CROSS ISL PKWY NORTH ramp toward WHITESTONE BR.. 0.26 miles

Merge onto CROSS ISLAND PKWY N. 3.18 miles

Merge onto I-295 N via exit number 33 toward BRONX/NEW ENGLAND. 3.08 miles

Merge onto THROGS NECK EXWY/I-695 N via exit number 10 toward I-95 N/NEW HAVEN. 1.67 miles

(Throgs Neck Bridge is a $3.50 toll, BOTH ways) Watch the signs immediately after the toll

THROGS NECK EXWY/I-695 N becomes I-95 N. 1.31 miles

Take the HUTCHINSON PKWY NORTH exit- exit number 9. 0.05 miles

Take the HUTCHINSON RIVER PKWY NORTH ramp. 0.17 miles

Merge onto HUTCHINSON RIVER PKWY N. 4.30 miles

Merge onto CROSS COUNTY PKWY W via exit number 13 toward SAW MILL PKWY/YONKERS. 1.65 miles

Take the BRONX PKWY exit- exit number 6- toward SPRAIN PKWY. 0.12 miles

Take the BRONK PKWY NORTH ramp toward SPRAIN PKWY. 0.37 miles

Merge onto BRONX RIVER PKWY N. 0.36 miles

Take SPRAIN BROOK PKWY N toward TACONIC PKWY. 12.52 miles

Merge onto TACONIC STATE PKWY N. 0.44 miles

Merge onto SAW MILL PKWY N/SAW MILL RIVER PKWY N toward BREWSTER. 12.49 miles
(this is a VERY windy and narrow road with traffic lights)

Take the ramp toward HARRIS RD/KATONAH. 0.07 miles
(Do NOT get off at the Bedford Hills exit which is the exit before this)

Turn LEFT onto RAILROAD AVE. 0.10 miles

Turn RIGHT onto HARRIS RD. 0.51 miles

Bedford Hills Corr. Fac. Is on the left hand side. The other side is Taconic Corr. Fac.
Go into the parking lot on your right immediately as you enter the gate (Taxi signs on the fence)
There is a small building in the front with Blue doors, this is where you go to register.

Actually to Gowanda/COLLINS u go the way Karensgirl say:
Thurway (I-90) West, past Buffalo, BUT it's way better that u pass the Hamburg exist and get off at the EDEN/ANGOLA exit 57A. U pay a 50 cent toll and once u get to that intersection u turn to the LEFT and drive like 10 minutes to another intersection at that light u turn RIGHT (thats Route 62 S) u drive for another 20 minutes or so and u are there. you will pass Collins 1st and Gowanda is right next door. from rochester ny its like 103 miles.

*Security sucks. there are alot of new Co's and they are constently in your face.
*Packages are 35 lbs max a max
*Visits work on an odd and even system, goes according to their din #

Wow! Those directions to Bedford read like a Saturday Night Live skit. How could anyone find that prison? I'd need a map reader, a directions reader, a compass, sleeping bags and a tent, just in case!

Good thing I only go to Clinton. Up Rt 87. Turn Right. I'm there!

:fb: I am going by van to Upstate Correctional Facility in October. I am planning on using that umm brothers van service. I hear the buses are good, and they charge only $45.00. Hope everything goes well. Does anyone know how we can pay for a sure seat? And if they take cards, has anyone ever done that?

Hi I'm new to the PTO. My boy friend is currently serving time in Riverview correctional facility. I would like to know a bus service that goes there besides Prison Gap.

Im not sure about the bus service because I ride upstate w/ my boyfriend's parents however when i leave I see people getting on a bus on the back of the bus is this web add. Bestway Coach Express: bestwaycoach.com there should be a # on the site and if u call they will give u a # to what buses go where and how much.
-Good Luck
