I honestly couldn't even tell you. I myself don't see anything wrong with it but per the Title 15 it's not allowed. I really don't see the big deal but apparently CDCr does!

I do not have corn rows but I do go up with my hair braided with extentions and have not had a problem before. It's braided in singles with extentions.

Now i personally dont know about Cmc, even though my man is there ive never been able to visit. But since I myself jhust got out of CIW which is the womens prison in Chino. i do know that the guards trip on extensions and corn rows because while braididng you could braid something "Bad" in to them to later take out once inside the visit. So that is why they dont like them to be worn.. Hope this helps..

It is very easy to "braid items into your hair extensions" It is a clear way to hide items of a smaller nature..ie: needles, that can later be turned into weapons. I know I want my man safe, I would think the rest of you would too. The less risk the better chances they come home sooner and safer...including deseases tey can get from others needles...you know???Happy Holidays to all....So I will not be braiding my hair.

Hi Sprinkles and welcome to PTO. So do you have a loved one at CMC?

I have been to CMC more then a couple of times with my hair braided and never had any problems. Maybe something happened with corm rows before and so that is why they don't want you to wear them. I have like LOVEU seen a lot of woman there with singles again..including myself. I called up there today to see if singles were allowed and was told yes so tomorrow I will be calling visiting and the fv coordinator to make sure. I will post once I find out.

My brother is there, came from Wasco... Young stupid and serving time...not sure how much longer he has, his date has changed several times, however, it is very possible and does happen. I know they are not going to make you take your braids out, but they can and will send you home. Single braids like....the ones that start at the scalp and are not completely attached the length of the braid..are ok. But it is the traditional corn rows that are the problem. If I remember correctly, the inmates arent allowed to wear them inside that way either are they? Maybe I am wrong, but I dont think so.I think that the extensions that are the same way are ok too...I have a pink piece of paper that mentions all this I think. But it didnt really apply to me, I will see if I can find it and get a copy out to everyone.

Yes, inmates are allowed to wear cornrows, braids, ponytails and dreadlocks. Please see below....

Per the Title 15 here's what is says:

page 40 Article 5 . Personal Cleanliness

3062. Inmate Grooming Standards

(g) An inmate with hairstyles, including but not limited to braids, cornrows, ponytails or dreadlocks, shall be required to unbraid, undo or take down their hair, as applicable for thorough inspections, as instructed by custody staff to ensure hair is free of contraband.

Well ladies, I called today and spoke with the visiting Lt. and he told me braids are okay, he doesn't expect for us to go pay for our hair and then come there and have to take it down. So I will continue to where my braids.

The inmates are allowed to where braids, my husband has braids now as well except for the extentions.
