I very easily tracked down a school mate that is incarcerated in Oklahoma. I was on the ODOC web site put his name in the search field and PRESTO there he was. Everything I wanted to know about him where, what, and when. Why does Texas not have such a internet source? Any ideas how we could work on that?

I may not be completely accurate on this but I seem to recall reading something about T.D.C.J. wanting to bring their database online but Inmate's families and support organizations having a problem with it. They felt it was an invasion of privacy or something to that effect. I will see what I can dig up on it to post here.

They can have access to the criminal history but not to the TDCJ system. It is not a resource that they are willing to let go of. But if you know there # you can call and get all there info and there current location. The contact info is on the website @ www.txdps.state.tx.us
You can get a criminal history report from the texas dept of public safty website @ 3.95 per record.

soraya, thanks
I've called but I have limited information about the man. Just his name. They require you know Date of birth, S.S# or his prison ID #. No one on the phone wants to help me go through the list to find the man I 'm looking for.
It's just lazy ass Huntsville, Texas that does not want to help.
OKlahoma DOC looked up my other friend right away. Took them 3 seconds.

this web site keeps saying an online inmate search will be online soon...I wonder what 'soon' means in Texas?
