Is this a county jail? They should get their mail no matter where they are.

Hi, probation violation is usually a county offense. It is considered a misdemeanor. Ususally, most inmates spend their time in the County Jail where there probation violation occurred. Yes in fact, there are lock downs in Del Valle. My husband served four months in Del Valle before being transferred to Travis County State Jail to serve the rest of his state jail sentence. I recommend you call 512-854-4180. That is the number for the County Jail in Del Valle. They are extremely nice there, unlike the folks at TDCJ. They will tell you if there is a lockdown issue and what the restrictions are. You should ask about mail and what not then.

Jojacks is right, he should still be allowed to get and send mail. My fiance was in Del Valle for a couple of months before being transferred to TDC. He was put on lockdown once, but was still able to write and recieve letters. They can't have visits or phone calls though. If you haven't already I would call as lisarae515 suggested.
