If your loved one is paroling with a mental health designation (CCCMS or EOP) in California, I have found the CA Dept. of Rehabilitation Job Service to be an excellent source for career assistance. I have spoken with the Chief Civil Rights Attorney for the DOR, and she told me that a felony conviction does not prevent any parolee from participating as long as they have a psychiatric diagnosis, and taking psychotropic medication is fine. Qualification is initiated by the DOR, confirming a diagnosis from the Parole Out-Patient Clinic. There are over 100 district offices of the DOR, and their website on CA government website will help you locate an office in your area. DOR does exceptional work with anyone with a physical or mental disability.
