Birthday Cards for children of inmates

I was wondering if anyone has ever considered sending birthday cards to the children of inamates? I have a grandson that is turning 6 in a few days and was thinking how he is missing his Dad on his special day. And how getting birthday cards would be neat for him and I know others would love it as well. Maybe we could get something like this going for the little fellows, anybody have any suggestions?

I am going to bring this up to the other moderators and see what they think...only problem I could see would be a privacy issue but maybe it could be just a card sent from PTO in general so no info would be available to the general public..I will let you know, what is said

i am totally up for sending and recieveing birthday cards for kids, i know my kids would love to get mail just for them for their special day.

I think sending the birthday cards would be a great idea.

Even though my kiddos bday has already passed, we think its a good idea... she too loves getting mail & will have at least one more bday before he's home...

This thread was brought back up in the last few days and several of you posted in it. It's from 2003 and it was decided several years ago that because of privacy issues etc. with kids we wouldn't be doing this on PTO.
