Default Can inmates inherit from an estate while in?

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know if inmates are allowed to inherit property or anything from an estate, if their parent should die when they are still incarcerated?

I was just wondering if anyone knew offhand.

Also, is there a way to find out sentencing guildlines in VA?

Thanks all!

Yes, he can inherit - he may want to provide someone with a power of attorney to manage some of the paperwork, though.

The sentencing guidelines are here:

http://www.vcsc.state.va.us/codes_qbe.cfm

Search by name or bottom has it by alphabetical. Watch for how things are named, like drugs are Narcotics, and DUI's are Traffic.

I had a friend of mine when I was in the system when I was serving time, and his mother died. He was left assests and there was no problem.
