Default Looking for Friends

Hi All. I just joined a few days ago. My husband is a alcoholic and that is the reason he is in prison right now & that reason only. Last June he did what I kept telling him for 19 years was going to happen. He had a serious wreck & could have easily killed someone cause he had no idea he was even behind the wheel. He sent a young girl to the hospital, but she recovered fine after a few weeks. However, the Judge put him away for 4 years the day after Easter.

It has been almost a year since the accident and my life has been a complete nightmare. I have went from a size 8 to a size 2 and did'nt even no it for sometime. STRESS will do that I'm told.

We had a 5 bedroom Victorian house on Main Street in a small town & now I am in a nice trailer in a trailer park. We divorced a week after our 19th anniversary & two weeks before he went to Prison. We sold the house cause we had no idea how long he was going to get, but I figured a year at the most & he got 4. We were all very shocked. He was the bread winner.

Anyway I'm just looking for someone else out their that has a spouse in Prison for about the same reasons. I have been in Al-Anon for a year now but should have been their years ago. Everytime he would go to AA I would go to Al-Anon then when he would stop.....I stopped. Figured if he was'nt going to get help why should I. Boy was I wrong. Al-Anon has really helped me. It's not to make him stop drinking.....it has saved me. One Day AT A TIME.

Welcome to PTO! My husband is in prison for the exact same reason but he received 10 years. The victim wanted 20 years so we lucked out in some regards. He's been gone 2 1/2 years and hopefully, he'll be able to come home soon on parole.

You are definitely not alone. And yes, one day at a time.
