Unhappy Please HELP! Husband Bladder shy

I'm writing because my husband is bladder shy which is a condition known as paruesis and he can't urinate in front of people. because of this they are saying that he failed his drug test when in reality he just couldn't do it and would have submitted to any alternate form of testing. Anyone else's guy have this problem? Is there a solution or something he can do to petition? I was told he needed a Doc to diagnose this so he has a form of action? How hard is it to get into a prison Doc? Please any information would be great. Thank you in advance.

I have heard of people having issues like this, although I have never heard of any treatment options. I am sure you could find a few things on the internet. Try and find out if there is a certain protocol that is followed for treatment/management. That way, you can send him the information and he can see the doctor armed with a few suggestions. Once a diagnosis is made, then an alternate for of drug testing can be utilized. But he would have to have a diagnosis through one of the UTMB doctors. Not sure if he would be able to get treatment (if there is one) while in TDCJ, but at least he wouldn't have any more issues with drug testing.

And this will be a continual issue throughout his incarceration. I don't think I've ever seen private stalls for inmates anywhere inside the prison. The schoolhouse is semi-open, with at least a window, the cells have an open latrine, all the work areas are open, etc.

If he can't P in public, he is in for one heck of a bladder control issue beyond urine checks.

You can request an alternate form of testing, such as blood or saliva, but good luck... you are in for one hell of a fight. There was an article in the paper up here about that very same problem, and you basically have to have a diagnosis of paruesis, and the article said like 80% of doctors do not even believe that the condition exists to diagnose it. So your first hurdle is getting him diagnosed, and the second hurdle is getting a lawyer to fight the battle for you, because they won't listen to you.

I, however, worked in an occupational health clinic, and we did a LOT of drug screens for various reasons, and let me tell you, LOTS of people have that same problem, though most won't admit it. Good luck to you and your hubbie...

I think I have it. 20 years in the military ( in a classified position yet too)
they would take us in one at a time and we had to stand sideways
so they could get a good "view" (right now I am laughing so hard it hurts remembering all this...)
I would wait until my bladder almost burst be4 I could go.
man... talk about a walk down memory lane
