Default What is a PR bond?

This jail situation is a whole new world to me. I no nothing and I am actually pretty confused. To make a long story short my brother is being held at Bexar County Adult Detention Center for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Point is my brother never assaulted the officer and the only witness is my mother. She was told by a court appointed attorney she would count as witness because she was his mother. If anyone can give me input on that situation I would appreciate it. Like, if the officer does not show up to court is the charge lessened or does it have the possibility to be dropped completely??? My original question was about PR bonds. I don't know what this is or how it works. My mom just told me she might get my brother out this up coming week end on a PR bond, but she still has to pay a lot of money and he hasn't been charged yet so he might have to go back to jail. Any input at all would help,
Thanks

I did a google on it and this is what I found -

Sometimes, you can be released without bail on a Personal Recognizance or "PR" bond. You may also be eligible for a cash deposit bond.

I am still a little bit confused on my brothers situation, but thanks for the effort. I really appreciate it.

My boyfriend is in Smith County, Texas and he has a surety bond. The lawyer was trying to get it reduced to a PR bond-which was told to be a property bond..for house..ect. He was working to sell a house that he had built, where we lived, and was going to use that to get out since it hasn't been sold yet...It didn't work so I didn't look into it any further. Hope that helps some!

Bonds and differences.

Surety- this is through a bail bondsman. It can consist of money or property for a percentage.

PR ( personal recognance)- Usually goes to a first time offender non violent. this is with signature a word that you will appear to court.

Cash bond- put up the full amount of money. (cash) and after all of the court proceedings the money is refunded back.

If the bond is forfeited the cash bond is lost.
With a surety a perecntage is to be paid, for the length of time out of custody.
PR bond would be a warrant issued and no chance of another PR bond.

Hope this helps in some way for you.
