Question Any info on the USP in Pollock La

My friend is planning to visit her penpal at the USP in Pollock La. Does anyone have any info regarding this institution? She is interested in visiting days, times, hotels near the prison, do buses run to this prison, how the COs are, just any available info that anyone has regarding visitation will be helpful. Thanks to all

I'm not sure if you got the information you were looking for or not but tell your friend to make sure there is no lockdown before making the trip. My friend is there and there has been a lot of them lately. I live in Baton Rouge so when he can have visits, I am able to make the trip in a day. There is a hotel nearby, I'm not sure what it is though. The CO's there are okay. at least they were a year ago when I last saw him. (He lost visits for 2 years). As far as I know, there are no buses but I am not sure. I hope this helps.

i visited the Pollock Camp in august of 2006, and found a hotel that was located ten miles from Pollock. It is called the Sleep Inn and Suites (a Choice Hotel). The address is: 3411 Monroe Hwy, Pineville, La. 71360 and the direct phone number is: 318.640.8505. It was very convenient and comfortable. Also, i recommend your friend talking to her pen pal before traveling because the USP POLLOCK goes on "lockdown" quite frequently, with little or no notice. Also, regarding times and days of visitation, I believe it is the same as the camp, 8AM to 3PM on saturday and sunday.

I think you are right about the visitation times. I'm glad you remembered the hotel name, for the life of me I could not come up with the name!!! Lockdowns have been quite frequent lately, especially since the fight that led to two deaths. One of them lasted 29 days! I really cannot wait until Scott is out of there. It sucks! We only have till Christmas Eve 2009 before he gets out of there then moves on to a state facility. Some days I wonder if it will ever come to an end!

I visited last August and am going again this August. There were no buses that I am aware of that take you to the prison. I rented a car and stayed in a hotel in Alexandria, which is only about 15 minutes or so away. They weren't very strict from my experience. My advice is to get there as early as possible to maximize your visit because if they have to stay for count, you will be waiting, possibly an extra hour or more.
