We Need An Attorney! ! ! ! ! ! !

We need to seriously try to locate an attorney (who would be willing to learn about laws in other states) or a bunch ofattorneys who would be willing to join PTO and help these people with legal problems. Why dont we all attempt to locate some and see if we can talk one into working with the group here on a probono basis if it is a case that could produce some money for the inmate or his or her family, and on a free basis if it is not something that would produce money. Then if a family member Has money they could offer to help attorney by giving him something anyway. This is something I think we should all think about. Let me know what you all think.

I'm not sure what type of attorney you'd want. There are so many that specialize in different parts of the criminal justice system.

I do know that there is a group of Federal Defense Attorneys that run a YAHOO! group called BOP watch.

There is a great website already in place where people can post legal questions and even find an attorney. Check it out...

I've used it before, and I've found their advice to be very sound and helpful most of the time. When you submit a post, other readers may post a response, but you'll also get a response from a moderator who is an attorney.

we need one that will either update himself or herself on all states or someone that has connections in most states.

YES.... I NEED ONE RIGHT NOW DESPARATELY.... I HAVE PAID OUT 10,000.00 IN THE LAST YEAR FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO A PERSON WHO TOLD ME HE WAS A PRISON REFORM ADVOCATE AND COULD HELP INMATES..... WE HAVE HAD HIM WORKING ON BUTCH'S CASE IN MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS. WE CANNOT EVEN GET HIM TO MAKE A LIST OF THINGS HE HAS DONE FOR US SO WE KNOW WHAT WE HAVE PAID HIM FOR.... THE ONLY THING I HAVE IS A PAROLE PRESENTATION FOR 2001... HE HAS PROMISED ONE FOR 2002, BUT THE OTHER DAY HE TOLD ME HE DID NOT REMEMBER TELLING ME HE WOULD DO THE 2002. RENEE PAID HIM $750.00 TO HELP WITH HER VISITATION... NO HELP OR COPIES OF LETTERS THAT HE HAS WRITTEN.... CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT AT ALL....

THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WHO WILL HELP US AND NOT TAKE EVERYTHING WE HAVE EVER HAD IN OUR LIVES. I USED MY RETIREMENT TO PAY FOR THE LAST ONE.

donna-i am so sorry that happened to you guys-that is awful-i am sure there are some prople here who know some honest and reputable attorneys you could work with- maybe even one that would do some pro bono work due to your experience with the last attorney- and with butch's initial attorney-

Donna, If this man is an attorney REPORT him Immediately to the bar association. He has ripped you off bad it sounds like. I am sorry that you are having to go through all this and I am working on trying to locate someone to help everyone here at PTO

Donna, Pam is right! Tell him, if you don't get copies of everything you have paid for, from the get-go in X amount of time, you'll take him to the "bar"!

Put it writting and keep a copy.

The last attorney I had working my case (1995-2000)sent me copies of everthing. And when my house was broken into (3-01) and the safe taken (with the papers) he sent me copies of everything he had on file (what he did and what I sent too him) at NO CHARGE. It cost him time and $5.50 in postage.

THE PROBLEM IS, HE IS NOT A CERTIFIED ATTORNEY.... HE USED TO BE ONE BEFORE GOING INTO PRISON.... HE IS A REAL CON ARTIST.... THE NAME OF HIS COMPANY IS GROVER JONES CRIMINAL JUSTICE ASSOCIATES OUT OF PETERSTOWN, WEST, VA.

THE WAY I MET HIM WAS THROUGH BUTCH AND ANOTHER INMATE WHO HAD USED HIM. I AM SO VERY NIEAVE. I BELIEVE IN PEOPLE.... NOW, BECAUSE OF INFORMATION THAT RENEE GAVE TO HIM AND A COUPLE OF THINGS SHE SAID TO HIM, SHE IS HAVING MORE PROBLEMS AT THE PRISON BUTCH IS AT WITH CALLS. THEY ARE DOING AN INVESTIGATION OF HER BECAUSE GROVER JONES TOLD THEM SHE HAD IMPERSONATED ANOTHER PERSON TO VISIT BUTCH....

JONES ALSO STILL HAS $1,800.00 DEPOSIT RENEE MADE TO HIM TO DO A HABEUS CORPUS FOR BUTCH. WE HAD HIM HOLD UP ON IT BECAUSE WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR ABOUT HIS ATTORNIES DISBARRMENT HEARING...

I HAVE ASKED HIM FOR COPIES OF ALL LEGAL PAPERS AND LETTERS HE HAS WRITTEN LAST WEEK ON THE PHONE. I AM SENDING A LETTER NOW TO HIS OFFICE TO PUT IN WRITING THIS REQUEST.... WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS..

THANKS ALL.... I REALLY USUALLY DON'T LET PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME LIKE THIS, BUT I LET MY GUARD DOWN BECAUSE I REALLY BELIEVED THIS MAN COULD HELP. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY OVER THE LAST YEARS WITH PEOPLE LIKE THIS AND ATTORNIES WHO DON'T CARE THAT I REALLY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER.

Donna, GO TO THE POLICE. This man is practicing law without a license and that is against the law. Take him to small claims court. Press charges against him for theft by deception. You have to do something and there has to be something you can do. I am sure that you do not trust all police as I dont either, but sometimes they do help. PLEASE do NOT let this man get away with this. He has done this to you and Renee, what will he do to someone else? DONT ALLOW HIM TO KEEP THIS UP! ! ! ! !
