Default what does hummus taste like?

Could anyone explain to me what hummus tastes like? I keep reading about how healthy it is - but I really don't even know what it is or what it tastes like.

I love it. It's like a thick paste that you can spread on crackers, etc. It is made from chickpeas. I can't really explain how it tastes though. Maybe if I had some hear right now to sample...lol

You can buy it at the grocery store already made.

its creamy and smooth, depending on what type you get it can also be spicy or garlicly..hummus is really good..but as with any thing made from beans it does have a bit more fat.

It's like slightly grainy peanut butter. And it can be flavored with anything you like - lemon, garlic, red pepper, onion, or whatever you like. It's made from ground or mashed chick peas (aka garbanzo beans) and olive oil, etc.
try scooping it with toasted pita bread or veggies

I like it with Pita Bread, but it is an aquired taste I think and can give some people heartburn,

I like it but only if it is strongly flavored. The consistency did take some getting used to.

Just as a funny side note - the filter on the computers where my husband works counts the word "chickpea" as porn; I emailed him saying I bought some chickpeas to make hummus and his supervisor was notified that he got an email containing porn. I had to switch to using garbanzo.........
