I believe they take 44% of whatever money they receive to pay back restitution. I hope that helps. As far as letting them out early, if my man gets out in March like he is supposed to, he will have served 1 year 9 1/2 months of a 3 year sentence.

if you put the money on his books before he goes to state then they wont take anything. you can pay off his restatution at the court house. then no money will go to the state. he should be doing 50%. wish you the best of luck.

My understanding is that they are still taking 44% out for restitution. 55% doesn't start until 1/1/2007. I confirmed that by talking with someone in the Trust office at Old Folsom. I assume that would apply statewide.

Also, I am sure each Prison may operate alittle different but I called the TRUST office at Old Folsom and they told me how to pay off my son's restitution that was ordered by the court ( I had to write a letter of instruction and mailed it to a different P.O. Box). If you do it that way 100% goes to paying it off. If you sent $100 to put on the inmates books, only $44 will go to paying off the restitution and $66 will stay on inmates books for canteen. Once it is paid off, any monies sent in, 100% will be added to the inmates books.

Hope this infromation helps.

You are correct! They currently are taking 44% out of all money earned and received. It will go up to 55% next year (2007).

Reception can go either way. It depends on whether or not it's their first bid. I'm told a first timers paperwork, including restitution owed goes with him to reception. A multi-termers new paperwork has to catch up with his old stuff and that can take longer.
