All NY Inmate calls come via MCI. The inmate must have his counselor put the phone number on list approved list and then he can make calls. The process usually takes 2 to 3 days.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I don't think they are allowed to bring their things from county with them. My son's father requested that I pick some things up before he left and he gave some things away.

You can send him money, but I would wait for a week or so to see if he's moved. You don't have to but if they move him the money order goes around trying to catch up with him and it could take a long time. He won't get to use the money for a bit because he would need to be able to utlize commisary and I don't think that they allow that in reception unless they know that they will be there for a bit. Most move within a week or two. With the movement from and to Auburn he may be moved soon. Keep us up to date. Keep checking the DOCS website for his location.

My boyfriend just got to Downstate on November 26, 2003. He can't even call me for 30 days. And then after that 1 CALL every 2 weeks. That's crazy. Can someone let me know how sending a package works? He needs things. He's staying there for at least 6 months. Or until he goes to the Parole Board. Can someone help me. Any info about Downstate Correctional Facility will be helpful. THANX A WHOLE BUNCH

My boyfriend is in downstate in reception now. If you check previous threads you'll see that I put info in there about Downstate.

I sent my b/f a package. They are allowed 35lbs per month. Everything has to be hemertically sealed. They accept cold cuts, but sealed. No fruits in plastic cups only in cans. If you need more info pm me.
