The Monster ( a poem )

[FEDhead]

The Monster lives inside of me-
it seeps through every pore.
It festers like infection,
and rots me to the core.
The Monster wakes when I’m asleep,
and dances in my head.
When my soul is hungry-
the Monster has been fed
It blazes like a fire that no one can water down.
When my spirit is screaming-
the Monster makes no sound.
The Monster takes my life into it’s dirty, rotten grip.
It tugs at my subconscious-
while my will begins to slip.
It hides behind a shadow as I try to forge ahead.
The Monster is addiction.
The Monster wants me dead.
