Default How to write and start a petition!

I was just surfing around and I found this site. I know many of our members have asked this question in the past and I think this will be a great tool in assisting them!

Hope it helps!

This is how to write a petition:

State your business, Leave lines for signatures, copy and send!

That's just MY opinion...I 'could' be wrong

Default Proper English Grammar & Punctuation

This may seem like an obvious pointer, but I think it's important for petitions to use proper English grammar, punctuation and spelling.

There is nothing more disappointing than reading a petition that makes valid points, getting all fired up to sign it and then noticing that it looks like it was written by an elementary school student. Sadly, I don't sign petitions drafted by someone who didn't care enough to even use the spell check feature on the computer. I would think that the addressees who receive the petitions also notice this.

If you're unsure of grammar, spelling or punctuation, have a second or third person proofread the petition. I think the petitions' subject matter as well as prospective signers deserve a professional, dignified appearance. I hope you do too.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know I found another site that puts up free petitions. It's www.ipetitions.com, I'll be posting mine there later on tonight. I tried to get on petitionpetitions.com and it redirected me to a site that had nothing to do with petitions. Hope this site works for all of us who need the help.

In answer to your question YES any inmate can have a petition started regardless of his crime or his sentence.

Just have to make sure that it is addressed to the right person(s) and that it is brief and yet to the point of what it is that you are trying to obtain ie, a sentence reduction, parole, clemency, etc.

The hardest job is in obtaining the signatures and getting the word out to the public, not just PTO members. Often times people will hard copy it and obtain signatures that way as well.

We have alot of good petitions here and I am sure if you look through enough of them if you are still interested, you can get some info from them and use it for your own petition.

Good luck to you and if you have any other questions, I will do my best to answer them or direct you in the right direction.

In my opinion, the best way is by word of mouth. Open up your address book and send notices to everyone you know.

If you are real creative you could make up flyers and hand them out or place them on cars in shopping malls.

Tell all your friends about it. Place a small ad in a local paper or on a college campus. There are alot of free sites available to put ads like this.

Good luck to you. We have so many wonderful petitions out here and I hope you will take the time to sign some along the way as you travel.

Is there already a petition so lifers may have conjugal visits, I just think it's not fair, the guys that are coming out, that have a date of release can have those visits, why can't lifers.

It doesn't matter if there already is one... you can start your own anyhow.

In Canada, lifers get PFV... didn't know they don't in the US. That doesn't seem fair.

I really do not know if I am doing this right, but here it goes. My husband is at the Estelle unit, but not a lifer. I know that it is hard to see him and not be able to hold and kiss, like we use too. I had went for a visit and it was hard not being able to hold him like I want to. I think all offenders should be allowed to see there family and there friends, weather being lifers or not.

Angry petitions to remove disrespectful correction officiers from san quentin

My husband was shipped to san quentin recently and complaining of the correctional officiers being very dispectful.this is an on going thing.listen to this.there was a 602 passed around for days and there not getting where there directed to go. Due process being denied, equal access to courts denied.another issue r/c is holding inmates a week or more pass thier release dates.records refuses to respond to 602's. Staff laugh and anockingly force you to lock up or go to the so-called"(dummy box )a strip cage.they all deserve to be released on their actual release dates. Last but not least for the day. Staff came around over the holidays with trust withdrawals for destroyed state property, sheets.towels, clothes etc. If you refuse to sign then you get a 115 loss of canteen, visits etc. One more thing how healthy is sleeping on linen and blankets for 30 days? Very unhealthy and someone needs to step up. Im doing this first hand but im moving further to sacramento head quarters. Thank you for listening, help!help! Help! Those men in san quentin please for its all bad.

You can go to one of the petition sites listed above, make a petition, and start a new thread in this forum with the link to the petition so others can sign it.
