My dad is in Childress Texas...

Hello,
I have only seen my dad one time in the last 25 yrs because he has been caught up in the Texas system. The last time he was incarcerated he was charged with burglary and robbery in 1991. They keep denying his parole hearings. I am not sure why they have held him for so long but as far as I can see he is getting more time than someone would normally get for a much more serious offense. I have written letters to the parole board and have also hired an attorney to help represent him. I just think that the system they use in Texas does not justify the types of crimes committed and punishable sentencing. They are far too harsh on inmates without taking their crimes into consideration. I know that people make mistakes in life and that they are accountable for their own actions, but my dad committed a crime many years ago that he has more than paid for while being incarcerated all this time. When do they get a chance to live?

I have run out of answers if someone could please help me understand this system I would greatly appreciate it.
