can't find my best friend - (L.A. area)

My best friend just got locked up about a week ago, and i haven't heard from him. I looked him up in the computer, under the los angeles sherrifs department, that always helps when i'm looking to track down a friend who is in jail. But this time, it's not working. i can't find my friend. What do i do? They arrested him when we were together, and he called me later that night. The detectives came over the next day to ask me some questions, and i had given him my adress to write, and he said he would, but i still haven't heard from him. He hasn't called, nothing, what do i do? It's been 11 days.
