Default Visting in Waseca Federal Prison

Has anyone been in the visiting room in Waseca? How is it? I heard that because of some prior problems, you are made to sit across from each other instead of next to each other. Does anyone know if this is true?

So I had my first visit in Waseca yesterday and I HATED it. You have to sit across from each other and he's not even able to get out of his seat to go look at what they have in the vending machines. They have NO GAMES to play and only a few decks of cards. He hates it there. I have heard a lot of people say that Waseca has the best food in the BOP and he heard that also but he said that the food there is TERRIBLE. He is camp eligible and will go see his counselor on December 8th. Does anyone know if you have to stay at one facility for a certain amount of time before they will consider moving you to a camp? I heard that there are a lot of beds in Duluth open and he said that Waseca just got about 30 inmates from Duluth who got in trouble there.

They won't move him until his first review, at 6 months in, from what I understand. I am sorry you had such a horrible visit. I have heard over and over how much "better" Waseca is than Sandstone - just a short drive up I-35 - but from what you posted, I would MUCH rather visit at Sandstone. Good luck... I hope that he can get moved soon

I just had a visit with my daughter, The visiting room is pretty nice, You can sit next to the person or across from them , you are allowed a brief hug before and after the visit. At least you do not have to sit behind glass.

I guess they've changed their rules since this thread was started

I'm glad you had a nice visit with your daughter!

I think the rules relaxed some when it went from male to female.

I just wish people would stop any foolish actions in visiting rooms.
