Yes you have to be married to get a family visit, unless you are a family member.

You have to be married, or an immediate family member. Also, he must qualify. A few things that will disqualify: a life cap (no release date), a sex offence, any domestic violence, even if he wasn't convicted and even if it wasnt you.

all of these ladies have pretty much said it all. yes you do need to be married, and if he has a violent crime he may need to take it to a higher level then his CC1 to see if he can get approved. Its not just as easy as most people think. it took us awhile to get them because the family visiting office is a fricken slow poke

What they said is correct PLUS they have to have X amount of money on their books to purchase the food from the canteen for the visit your not allowed to take anything in..

Doesn't it suck they won't let you unless you are married, heck if he were on the outside wouldn't ya be spending the nites with them or living with them, come on people it's the 20th century here lol ...

Yea all these ladies are right you have to be married. I just started going to mine I love them!!!! There the best. But in order to ge them you first have to be married and show the marriage certificate,2nd he can't have any domestice violance charges on his record,oh and it doesn't matter if you were the one any domestic violance on any person. And last but not least he can't be a lifer. Lifer's can't have family visits-don't know why that is dumb!!!! And when you get approved for them you have to take you marriage certificate all the time and it can't be a copy it has to have the seal or stamp. Hope this helps.

Default appealing family visit denial

Does anyone know how to appeal a denied family visit? I was listed as the crime victim, so the family visit application my husband submitted was denied. There were no DV guilty counts, we are married and we are approved for contact visits. Any help is appreciated!!

you need to write the warden. state your case and see what happens. if you put in there proof that he was not convicted on DV and you were not hurt, and i would say that you guys get contact visits. no guarantee, but it wouldn't hurt to write.
