Default First Visit Next Saturday - Need Info Please!

Finally, My first visit with my husband next Saturday - Yea! It's been 2 1/2 long months of reception and transfer till he finally got placed. He's at CIM (Chino) and I know some of the rules for visiting through this website, but it will be my first and I know I'm going to be so excited all week I won't be able to think straight!! Any visiting advice, experiences, issues problems that I should be aware of would be greatly appreciated. I live in Northern California and it's a long long way to Chino, so I want to make sure I do everything right to ensure I get my visit.

Thanks to all - this is a wonderful site and so needed!

Julie

Hi! I haven't visited there but I have visited a few others. I would say to just dress very conservative, no blue or olive green and don't forget no under wire bra. Make sure you have a change of cloths in the car just in case. Take in a clear purse with your change and ID in it.

Here's a few links with LOTS of great info!

Try to relax and enjoy your visit! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I can't give you any specific info. on that prison. But i can give you a tip on you first visit wear black no jeans. It a safe color and have a change of clothes just in case in your car. Most prison's have a no metal policy even your underwire bra. But just check out on your first day to visit who is wearing what and you'll soon be familair with what not to wear and what to wear. That is what i did. Hope this helps.

Congrats on your upcoming visit! My husband has been at Chino a long while now...basic visiting rules apply...no green, brown, blue or orange...I usually go with black, not real exciting but safe.
Do you know what yard he's on?

I used to visit Chino about 5 or 6 years ago, and what I remember, everyone always made a mad dash to the vending machines, I always made it in first with no problems..Then I would pick out my picnic table..they had big plastic bags you put all your food in. the vending machines were usually emptied in no time.. they did refill them in a few hours.. I don't know if it still works that way. When I was visiting they started letting the visitors wear black jeans, don't know if that has changed or not.. Good Luck on your first visit!

ETA: when I used to go you would take your food to the counter and they heated it in the microwave for you.. It thought it was a pretty decent prison as far as visiting went. It might be different now..

PT Roze is right, you can wear black jeans, which is nice, especially when it's cold. The vending machines do empty out pretty quickly, but they re-fill them at least once during the day. Take you own plastic bag to hold your money, id and car key...it's good to have a big one to hold the food. Tables are assigned now, and microwaves are open for people to heat their own food.

So far most of the CO's have been really nice, which surprised me after visiting in Lancaster

Have a great weekend!

Thanks everyone for the information! Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they don't go on lockdown!
