Yes it is much more laid back. No metal detector, no long lines to be "processed", you bring your own food. Just do not wear green or orange and call the camp that he is supposed to go to and they can give you specifics for visiting.

Default calling

another good reason to call is to make sure the inmate is not out of camp on a fire. make sure you have no cameras. the inmate can purchase photo ducats to have pictures taken. you can b-b-que. no bottles plastic/or glass. cans only. park like setting. you can bring food from a drive-in or in your own ice chest. yes, total layed back.

Yes they are a lot more laid back and the waiting to check in is usually a breeze. Don't get carried away though becaus eyou have to remember that they are still locked up and they are still CDC property. Pat and I got too comfortable and got our visits taken for 90 days, so kick back enjoy the more kicked back situation but try not to forget where you are (it is easy to do that sometimes)

Welcome to fircamp!

Default Visiting a fire camp?

How long can you visit for? Is there any physical contact allowed at all? Any help is appreciated.

Default time spent

Our visits are for 5 1/2 hours. Yes you touch. We sit next to each other at the picnic table. A hug here and there. A kiss also. All within reason!

Default Is the mail any quicker in the fire camps?

I am just wondering if the mail moves any quicker when the inmates are located at a fire camp? There isnt as many inmates mail to go through, you would think it would be quicker, or do they only do mail pickups from the post office on certain days. If anyone knows how this works....PPPPPPPPPlease let me know.

Thanks a bunch!!!!

Default speedy mail

I am in orange county, my husband is in riverside county. He gets mail from me in one to two days. The post office delivers there everyday. The office/ c.o.'s sort and distibute the mail the same day they get. Again, that is what happens at bautista.

Same here. In my experience when the mail is delivered from the post office they sort it and the inmates get it the same day.
