The usual method is to apply first for fafsa, then to apply for a loan through salliemae. These are both the acronyms for federal programs but you can find them by doing a google search for them.

HI....There is a federal program called the "Workforce Investment Act Program" (WIA). I am a case manager for the program in one of the Michigan counties. There are some eligibility requirements for the program and I am sure every state runs the program differently, but it is definately a resource to check out. If you'd like more info or would like me to track down who runs the program in the state you live in, I'd be more than happy to assist.

Arrow WIA Contact Information for Stanislaus County, California

I was very excited to see your reply regarding grants for wives of prison inmates. We plan to move to Texas after his release and I would like to take some medical billing/coding classes so I can work out of our home.

If you could provide with the contact information for Stanislaus County, California I would be very grateful!

Thanks.

Cindy

Here is a link the federal WIA website for general information on the program. http://www.doleta.gov/usworkforce/wia/act.cfm
Each state operates their programs differently though, so I would suggest contacting your state Department of Labor.

if you contact your local one-stop-center usually connected with the dept of labor that is most likely where the funds are distributed through, it is very easy to qualify for the only problem is that there is not always the funds available for everyone, I work for one here in upstate NY and the funds go quickly when we get them

Y'all may want to look at this site. The member who offered info hasn't been back in a very long while.
