Default Moodley Gets 40 Years For Killing Leigh Mathews

His Sentence was 25 years for killing Leigh Mathews - 15 years for Kidnapping and 10 years for extortion. Several people cried "Yes, yes" when Moodley was sentenced to an effective 40 years in jail. However I did hear on TV in an interview with Moodleys father that he thought his son got what he deserved. It has been said that Moodley has to complete his whole sentence and will only be able to leave prison at the age of 65.

The State used policemen, scientists and a pathologist in a bid to show Moodley had also stored the body in a refrigerator for 12 days before staging the crime scene in Walkerville. Witnesses testified Matthews' body was not decomposed when it was discovered.

They contended the position of cartridge cases did not match Moodley's recollection of the shooting, and that over four litres of blood were still missing.
