Sara, I am going to move this to the California Forum...

Always post the name of the prison as well - and the state... so there is no confusion as to where you are referring to!

Thanks!

Found this doing a search.. at least they listed a phone number you can call:

Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

All visits to the Pelican Bay Security Housing Unit (SHU) are by appointment only. You may call (707) 465-1000 and an automated operator will assist you in contacting visitor processing staff.

For updated information concerning Pelican Bay visitor hours or closures, please call the Visitor Processing Unit at (707) 465-1000.

Sara,
BSS is the best bet regarding Pelican Bay but I visited in Jan 03.
You do have to arrange your visits with the prison.
there is 2 times you can choose from AM and Pm (Afternoon) I went to the afternoon which is 1pm-3pm but you need to be there for 12.30 to sign in etc.
They are very strict with the dress code so you may be best to check all that out before.
If you dont drive there is a hospitality bus that will pick you up from your hotel etc in Crescent City.

Sorry I couldnt be much more help
Joanna x

PS the visits are for 2 hours and 3 people can visit at a time

For the SHU
If you are coming from a long distance say 300 miles or more you can made special arrangements to visit both times. You have to get this in advance. Love Barbara

I will get back with you on who to contact, you need to type up a statement telling them how far you are coming from and then I would fax it to the prison. I will check on this in the next day or two and get back with you. Love Barbara

You need to write a letter and request a double visit, that means you can visit both morning and afternoon on both Sat and Sun. Barb
