My husband went to one in Gonzales Texas. It was privately owned and its purpose was for probation violators to do all of thier community service. It was 6 mos and it was very easy time. Visits were Sundays, contact, for 45 mins.
Supposedly They Are Much Easier Than "Real" Prison...
Below is the list straight from the TDCJ web site. I know that some things are different, and supposedly better, than actual prison. For example, my hubby has already called once. At Baten, they get one call every 45 days, and they REALLY DO get to call! From what I hear, the Ft. Worth location gets access to the phones at all times, kind of like county.
Don't know much about the rest of the locations, I only ever seem to hear about those two. He has not really said much else in his letters, which, by the way, take anywhere from 4-6 days to get from Pampa to Dallas! But, from everything I have read and heard, it's a cake walk compared to "real prison".
Oh, also, I would imagine the real reason that these ISF units are "better" or "easier" than a real TDCJ prison is probably because they are PRIVATELY OWNED AND OPERATED, in other words, TDCJ doesn't have anything to do w/them, that's why they're halfway decent!!! Imagine that!
