Default Mother's Day Poem

To all of you Moms - thank you for your fierce courage in hard times and your patience, dedication, and most of all, your unconditional love.

Mother’s Day Poem

She poured chicken soup down me
like manna from heaven
and even though I didn’t rightly know
what manna was
if’n it was from heaven
it must be good.
She wiped noses and kissed boo boo’s
and told stories thousands of times
and every time I acted as though
I was amazed that they all lived
happily ever after.
She held my hand and my heart
and made me believe
I was the most important person
in her universe
even when I believed I knew more
and was always right.
She’d sit patiently and listen as I explained
how I’d conquer the moon, if’n she’d only
get out of my way.
She believed in me
when nobody else gave a damn
and she whispered prayers
and she never lost faith
that I’d see the light.
She thanked God for me
when I resented her.
She reached out to me
when I’d push her away.
Undaunted she’d reach out again and again.
I took her hand and saw the light and saw her
for the beautiful, wonderful woman she is
and will in my mind always be.
Thank you Mom.

Happy Mother's Day!
