my husband just got moved to the roach unit from the byrd unit. Before there, he was at garza west for almost a year. I live around Houston and that's way the freak up there. How the heck am I supposed to make it with him so far away from me. If anyone has details about that unit, I would love to hear about it..

my baby is locked up there from what he says there is alot of "youngsters" on that farm! it is real little one of the newer units here in texas they have 2 person cells the guards are all rgiht they treat the inmates good! my boyfriend really likes it there it sucks that he is soooooooo far but we dont wanna try and get him moved and then go to some crappy unit and get in alot of fights! i wonder if our men might know each other! iam going to see him with his parents and our 1 years old son on febuary 10! write if you need anything!

Default my hubby's there

Cool it's nice to see that i'm not the only one with someone way up there, my husband has been there since 5/08 from houston it's about 8 hrs and it's a pretty expensive trip but you can request a special visit and they'll let you see your love one for two days ( sat and sun) four hours each day so if you do it that way, besides seeing them,it really makes it worth the long trip. i'm still trying to figure out which motel/ inn is cheaper i've been staying at the super 8. The male guards seem to be nicer than the females ( to the visitors that is) from what my husband says winter is a pain so if your love one is from the south make sure they get on those thermals they've been issued coats already.
If you have any other questions feel free to hit me up, that goes for any one else who has a love one at Roach.

Default Hello!!

Look like there is a gap between posts, but my son was just transferred to Roach from Mineral Wells. I'm glad the one poster stated that her loved one thought the facility was decent. Apparently, Mineral Wells is not very good. A lot of people just waiting around and no really productive things to do. The thread for that site was great and everyone so supportive. I am also looking for some information on the place, so as I find out bits and pieces I will let you know.

Unfortunately, I live in Florida, so sharing expenses for the drive is not an option. It's difficult not being able to visit. Will check in as often as I can.
