Help Locating State Inmate

Does anyone know how I can locate a state inmate? He is incarcerated in New Boston, TX. I have called the institution for 3 days and the phone either rings and no one answers or they tell me the computers are down.
Is there an inmate locator number that anyone may know about??

If he is in Federal custody, as it appears from your post location above, you should be able to go to the BOP website...it's www.bop.gov
At the top of that page, click on inmate locator. Maybe it will help.
If he is indeed STATE, not federal, then try calling 1-800-535-0283. If you have his SID number (state id number)or TDCJ inmate number, follow the prompts. If you don't have either number, then call between 7 am and 5 pm M-F. You can get an operator and as long as you have his birthday, they can help you.
