Default Article: Driver breaks in jail doors

Driver breaks in jail doors
Everett Herald

Officials at the Snohomish County (Wash.) Jail are scrutinizing security after a woman used a sport utility vehicle to ram open two exterior doors last week.
"We will be reviewing the doors and overall security," Department of Corrections spokesman Jim Harms said.
Police say Lynn Johnson, 56, of Edmonds smashed into the doors, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage.
Officers suspect Johnson crashed into the screenlike doors, made of reinforced steel, three times before breaking through, Harms said.
"We'll be looking at the strength of those doors," he said.
The doors are the exit to the jail's sally port. Police park in the secure area while they bring those they've arrested inside the jail.
Jail staff and police found Johnson hiding behind a jail van after the doors were knocked open, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said. She claimed she was being followed and needed to take refuge at the jail, he said. Police are investigating her claims. No one was hurt.
Two thick metal doors would have prevented Johnson from getting into the jail's booking area, Harms said.

Oh my goodness!!! She felt she was being followed, so she rammed the doors??? Why go to the jail instead of the police station???

Anyway.... they found a weakness in the jails system.
