My hunny will be going to prison in a few weeks to serve a two year sentence. I am not sure where he is going. He is gonna try to get then to send him to Folsom because that is somewhat close to home. But I was wondering how the visiting is there or other prisons in California? Is it through a glass? Can you touch them? How does it work? This is all new to me. Thanks for your comments!!
Welcome to PTO. My son was in Reception at San Quentin for about 3 months, so don't expect your honey to be sent to the prison where he will serve his time for awhile. My son was transferred to Old Folsom in March and I have had two visits so far. Compared to visits behind glass, "contact" visits are wonderful. At Old Folsom, there is an inside visiting room and an outdoor patio with tables and chairs. We usually spend the entire time outside. The visiting process is fine. If you get there at 6:30AM to get a number, you usually get into see him by 8:30AM and can usually stay until 2:30PM. They actually don't start the visitor processing until 7:30AM. So far, I have had no problems with any of the COs there. They have all been fairly pleasant.
Good Luck and keep in touch. We are all here for each other.
hi well my husband is in chuckawalla and there its contact visits from 8-3pm
usually. by the time you get processed and at 2:30pm they start telling you to say good-bye so you get a good 5 hrs or so. you can hug and kiss only at the beginning and end of the visit. and it's about 1 1/2 hrs from palm springs. hope this helps
