Do you let daughter know of the changed dates?
Just wondering my LO is coming home soon and although my children are much younger.. I'm wondering If I should even tell them how many days or just wait til we know an exact release date to tell them like a few days before?

The first person I called was our kid. Ours is 15 and has been through a lot. Not knowing was worse. I always shared good/happy news whenever possible. We don't get that much of that when this is your life.

Ugh.. I had to go buy woman things at the store yesterday... All the hygiene stuff...  I'm sure the 10 other women in the area who saw a heavily tattooed 40 yr old contemplating where the feminine wash she wanted was at, made some people smirk. Obviously I don't have anything and we're hot trashing all the prison shit, it was the longest 30 minutes of my life.

She got her official governor letter today and took her COVID test. No more delays. 6 days left. We saved 1621 days of this. Whether it was medically vulnerable, a budget cut because of the pandemic, or the shifting in politics to not bury people for non-violent crimes, I don't give a shit. I get my family back, it almost feels like a miracle, a dream, a fantasy. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Been the best 4 days ever. There was no transition for us. Even through the years, we spent so much time together, everything flowed like it did before this happened. It is an out of body experience to see her walking around and having her presence in the house. Gets a little overwhelmed at stores, but nothing too bad. She says its time to go, and we bounce right out. It is so much fun to teach her technology, find her clothes, decide what to eat. Choices can overwhelm, but my calm and patience make it much easier. She's done really well. I am very proud of this new found strength. 
My only advice to anyone who cares, is to spend as much time as you can with someone inside. If you don't have the energy or don't want to talk because its too much effort, than maybe you aren't in the right relationship. It should never be a chore, or a hassle, or be forced. The more you do, the more normal and easier it is when they leave. Don't fool yourself into thinking a letter or two 15 minute phone calls a week gives you an idea of how it will be outside of the walls. Lots of people get hurt and throw away years of their prime into something that wasn't really there. The biggest thing I've seen in the almost decade of doing this, is if they are screwing up inside and getting in trouble, or heavily involved in prison politics, bet the house they will be a problem when they are a free person. Follow your heart, but take your brain with you
