Default Value Added Communications (VAC) phone service

Just to let everyone know that V.A.C. phone service is NOT servicing all the facilities in washington yet. I just spoke with them because my calls from Shelton were not coming through. They did offer to refund all mymoney because the earliest they would be set up at Shelton is on the 8th.

So for anyone that needs to get a refung from GTL they will be attaching a approx. $5.00 processing fee. This is wrong as we do nothave a choice in this matter. Everyone needs to put there foot down and demand there full refund. DOC is the one that should pay for this not us the consumer. I will not not stop till I get all my money back from GTL

GTL didnt tell me anything about a processing fee and i requested my refund yesterday.
i have yet to get it back, but that could be the banks fault.

For now, I still have money on both systems, is there a deadline to getting the GTL money? I'm waiting til I get a VAC phone call to be sure it is up and running.

FYI VAC USERS!

Don't know if anyone else came across this problem, but even though phone calls are only $3.59 ( $3.15 + $0.44 tax) you have to have at least $5 on the account to expect that last call, unless you call VAC and get it lowered to the actual call amount.

We've been having trouble getting calls through from Monroe CC - SOU. They go collect to his parents land line, but my prepay collect is random, sometimes yes, sometimes no. VAC said the problem was in the "trunk" at the prison and they are "working on it".

I am new to this and I was wondering about the phones at my guy's location. He is in Monroe at the Minimum Unit. Does anyone know if VAC carries that location and the cost of the calls? Also do they allow cellphone calls? Since I am in North Carolina will my rates be higher or is it one standard rate? Thanks for any help.

Default Sept 8th or Nov 8th?

I am wondering when exactly because my husband will be moving to Shelton soon. If it's Sept 8th there is no worry, but Nov 8th would frustrate me VERY much. Can you tell me if they told you a per call price from Shelton to a 206 [or adjacent area code] because their website says no more than "competitive prepaid rates" and that's not terribly clear.

VAC charges 3.15 per call with a .44 tax. So they are actually 3.59 per call. $25 is the minamum you can put on the account, but for every money transaction you put on the account will cost you $7.95.

Question Pin Required?

Is there a pin required for him to call from a prepaid account with VAC and if so will he get that the first day or will he have to wait? I would also like to know if there is only that type or if there's the specific to a phone number [like PCS] kind. I just need to know so I can have this all going before he goes; I miss him so bad with our phone calls I can't imagine without.

I put money on an account associated to my number only. Any inmate can call my number and if I accept the call, the cost of the call comes off of my account. He does need a pin for that, I believe. Maybe just to associate his name/facility with the VAC system. I can look online at my VAC account and see who called me when.

The other set up is money is put on his account and he can call anyone he wants. I'm not sure how this one works

If he's been to Shelton before, it would be the same pin he had otherwise from the time he gets to the Shelton facility it'll be up to 72 hours until they establish him a pin and get him all booked in.

Hello there,

If he's been to Shelton before, it would be the same pin they issued him, otherwise it can take up to 72 hours for them to fully process him in.

The calls from Shelton to a 206 number for me is $3.15 +.52 tax= $3.67 and they charge a FLAT rate. The phone system is through VAC and you can choose either the Vdirect program or Vconnect program. There is a credit card processing fee for both but if you pay with money order through mail, they'll waive it. Hope this helps.

VAC drives me crazy!!! I have an account set up with them, but have my calls billed through my phone company so I don't have to put up with the hassle...VAC only allows me to charge $35 of calls in a 30day period to my phone company, and the rest I have to prepay...When I put money on the prepaid account, it said 5.95 charge, not 7.95--

I believe they are saying you can't put more than $200 a week on the account.
