This a study that is less than 2 years old and it reveals a lot. It's also very sad.

I've read the link but tend to disagree with most of it. One can grow up poor but still manage to get a decent job and if their state is really poor then they could still move out of state if they so wanted to. The racial discrimination has been going on since slavery and hasn't been eliminated. There so much racial tension in the U.S when there shouldn't be and all that is government instigated it always has been. Americas down turn was back in 2008 and it still hasn't recovered. Most factories and jobs relocated overseas to china and India due to cheap labour and cheaper taxes. I don't know about you or anyone else in this forum but I see america as a police state. ever so slowly all its citizens will be incarcerated in one form or another. The class systems will no longer consist of rich, middle class and poor. The middle class is all but whipped out. The american citizen will be completely owned by the government and all families will be fractured. I'm seeing it now.

Hmm...very interesting observation, Born. I like that. You're very intelligent. Your perspective on things is a different slant and I like that....helps to see things from another angle that are often confusing. I can't see the forest for the trees on many days to do with the employment issue.

I've put up a few links for members who are both incarcerated and for sex offenders where they might be able to find work for above the poverty wage i think it's in the LASO section. I'm hoping it will help others out. I hate seeing people suffer through the system.

As far as jobs or work is concerned sadly a lot of the jobs that offer low wages to ex inmates do so at the lower rate because of two reasons. One the employer does so because he can and two the employer does so because his business is struggling. I mean really have you ever heard of a union group who has an ex con's best interest at heart? lets for get the job aspect of things and look at the housing. if you do end up being lucky enough to get accommodation i can assure you that you'd be paying top dollar for a dump. And again the landlords do it because they can. It's not because they want to help you out, it's because they see an opportunity to exploit you. Mind you not everyone is like this you do have the good and the bad but the bad out weighs the good in all instances.

Ps I quite enjoy your posts and quite like to engage in them. So thank you

The best thing any ex-con should do, especially SOs (like myself), is to begin their own business while working as needed until your own business has enough to sustain & build a new life with. I'm in my 3rd year of business since getting out, and finally things are trending upward. All thanks & praise be to the Lord God, Almighty. Figure out what you are good at and go for it. It's a long slog, but no one will do it but you.

You're my hero. That's the best advice anyone in our shoes as ex cons could hear.

Thank you, I appreciate the sentiment. However, all my praise and thanks goes to the grace of the Lord. I live and breathe by his grace alone. My participation here on PT is to help others, whether prisoner, ex-prisoner, or family members. It is the least I can do.
