Has anyone got been married in an Arkansas prison? If so, what was it like?

Matthew will be turning the paperwork in this week. I know that we will have to wait 90 days. He is in Tucker.

Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks

E1950 -

I am very interested in all of those questions. Terry and I have decided that we want to get married while he is in there but just not sure where to start.

So any info would be wonderful!

Here is an update on our situation on getting married.

Matthew requested the paperwork from the chaplain.
He filled out his information and sent everything to me to check over.
I filled in my info (name,DOB,address, phone#).
On the bottom of that form it shows how much it will cost and the breakdown.
Security Officers' Time $45
Transportation $15.50
Cost of License $58
Total $118.50

The money will be taken from his account to pay for all of this.

Then, I have to write a letter to the chaplain to ask to marry him.
We both have to write a letter within 30 days of the intial request,
or it will be considered void.

When I wrote my letter to the chaplain, I asked all kinds of questions
about the process, ceremony, refreshments, etc.
If he responds, I will post the information he provides.

I hope this helps anyone looking for answers.
I'll keep you updated.

Default Tucker

Here are my updates:

The warden approved the marriage. (Our date was set for 29 Oct)
-He will have to request for permission, in advance, a camara and/or video camera
-We can have up to 6 guests (including myself). Need to have their dob and ssn and be approved on visitation list.
-I can wear a dress, but it has to fall in the regular visitation rules
--Has to have sleeves, past the knee, nothing see-through, no spandex, etc.
-He can have a plain ring, woth $50 or less
-We will meet at the courthouse to sign the marriage certificate
--He will be transported by correctional officers
--I will follow them back in my vehicle
-We will have a quick counseling session with the chaplain right before the ceremony
-I have to leave directly following the ceremony. Boo Hoo!

Matthew said that a couple of guys in his barracks got married last week and he would ask them for more information. If I find anything else out, Ill let ya'll know.

Hopefully, we will get into a 309 program before our "date". If so, my baby will get to wear "real" clothes and possibly a night together to consumate our marriage. Oh Yeah!

Also, I'll post pictures of "our" day when it occurs.

I'm so glad I found this. My boyfriend and I had plans to marry, then his court date hit and he got sentenced. I had no idea where to begin on continuing to get married while he was in prison.

Default Wrightsville

My bpyfriend and I are also getting married. We just started the process and he is in Wrightsville. He put in a request to the chaplain and received a marriage packet. In the packet there is an application which he fills out and two questionaires (he fills out one and I fill out the other). I called the chapain today and he said also that we were going to have to go through two or three counselling sessions and find someone other than the prison chaplain to marry us (another preacher we know or a justice of the peace). Art's dad's a preacher so I'm not too worried about this. Right now I'm just wondering abou the counselling sessions...

My girlfriend is eligible for parole in April and I have moved to Illinois because of work. We have two children 7 and 8, who are with me. Her parole plans were denied for her to come to Illinois because we are not legally married. How do I marry her in prison?

Does anyone know how my fiance and I would get a marriage license to be married when he goes home for a furlough? We want to get married but not in the prison. He is in Grimes Unit in Newport.

I know something about FCI Forrest City Low. Not sure if their marriage rules are the same. The low only has weddings twice a year...end of March and end of October. He has to get the paperwork and fill it out. The unit supervisor will send it to the courthouse and you will have to go up there fill your portion out and pay the fee. They have a packet that includes all the info so tell him to get the packet from his unit supervisor and you can go from there.

Default still in county

We want to get married while he is in Pulaski County, if possible, before he is sent to the prison. We do not know where he is going yet. Is there anyway to do it while he is in the Pulaski County Detention Center?

Does a person have to be approved for visitation in order to get married? Are there other options in Arkansas (by proxy, etc?) I ask because I still have a couple of years of probation left and my fiancee will be going to Newport shortly. Ideally, we would like to be approved for a wedding, but we'll do whatever needs to be done at this point. Ideas?

Default county jail marriage

Can you get married to someone in ouachita county jail and do you know how to go about getting married? Who do I need to talk to in the jail? Is there a certain person I need to talk to about jail marriage? Do county jails in arkansas let you get married to someone in county jail?

How long does it take from beginning to end to get everything that needs to be done? Will i have enough time to complete it all in 2 months? I donít want to start the process if i donít have enough time.
