Default marriage license

Just a few questions, my baby and i are plannign on getting married in the next few months, but i need to know a few things, if any one can help thanks a bunch, Do the both of you have to sign for the marriage license at the courthouse or will they just let the intended wife sign for them? do i have to go to the courthouse in the county he is incarcerated in? how much does it cost?

Default marriages in ga

Hey,and congrulations on your wedding planns. You first need to start with the chaplin at the prison and have your man put in a request for marriage, then once thats done they should send you all paper work necessary for you to fill out.Once that completed you will then go to the court house were he is and he has to have been there in that county for six months before you can marry, then they will give you paper to fill out and send to the prison and from there the warden and all other parties involved will sign and your man will have to send them back to you, then you take all the paper work back to the court house and at that time you pay about 30.00 to 35.00 dollare for the marriage lincese,it takes about 60 to 90 days depending on how fast the prison facility moves. Good luck,my husband and I were married in Oct,2004 at Bostick state prison. God bless

i just had to do all that stuff too, had to send a copy of the marriage license back to the chaplain so he could fax it to atlanta for approval... we are still waiting on that and its been 3 weeks. The chaplain said we shouldnt have any problems gettin it approved on time for our plans on a June 8th wedding. The day we get married I have to take the original marriage license which I still have, to the prison to be filled out by the minister then filed at the courthouse.

Well for me starting from the first request, to the actual wedding day took a Whopping Seven Months... In Ga you have to go through marriage counsiling (5 sessions)... I believe that part took the longest.... Not to mention the pych. test they have to perform, on your fiance.... then approval from the Warden.... I had to take a day off from work... Once everything was approve, and the paper work was sent to the courthouse.... I had to fill out my portion of the application.... and go over to the prison to have him feel out his portion... and the application had to be notorized.... at the courthouse they give you Aids information to take with you,,.
Once the application is completed... you have to take it back to the courthouse... I paid $31.48.... Thats when they hand you a marriage license to have signed the day of the ceremony....

Best Wishes.....

my fience and I are plannin on gettin married I am odering our rings tomorrow but I called the courthouse and they told me he has to get permission from the warden first then I go to the courthouse and pay $65 then I fill out my portion of the marriage lisence then they take it to him so he can fill out his part then they will send it back to me sounds simple enough but this is the GA justice system so I sure we'll have plenty of problems with all of this

Try to call the chaplain where he is and ask him. If not call the clerks office in the county hes in and they might tell you more information
