Default Let's talk about sex and everything scary (STD's and testing when he gets released)

My man and I were together for a year and a half before he got sentenced. Since the day he got locked up I know that we a forged a stinger bond. We write all the time and I keep him posted with my day to day because he is also my best friend (which makes it even harder for me in his absence) the main question that has been racking my brain lately is what I'll do when he get's out?!?!?? Yes we have been through a lot but all is can think of are SDT's I would like to know what those who have been there done that did? Should I just welcome him home with open arms or make a pit stop at the local clinic before I let him touch me?

I appreciate any and all anecdotes. Thanks

Of course its wise to protect yourself and be on the safe side of things...I know you love him....but do yourself a favor and love you too....my advice would be for the both of you to get tested before anything goes down...I plan on doing the same when my love comes home...hope this helps...

FYI dont know about texas but inmates are tested before and after their sentence and prison time. ask to see his paper and if hes offended tell them him why you want to see it. otherwise cross your legs n dont let him in

Thank you both ladies! I'll be sure to put your words to practice. And Rockstara, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one thinking along these lines

TX tests them coming in and going out, so unless you have a reason to think he's not being honest with you, he would know he has an STD.
I did take mine to the family Doc for a physical though, and to get his medications changed back to his original stuff. Interestingly enough, TX didn't catch that he had a thyroid problem. Or they did and just chose not to do anything about it, because those pills would have cost them a whole $4 per month at Walmart.

They get tested periodically in there. I'd make him show you the papers when he gets out. If he has a problem with it,that's his own issue because your body comes first. I know it sounds romantic to just push everything aside when he comes home and go for it, but you need to think about the consequences. Reality is, they're in prison, they get tattoos, drugs are available, etc. I trust Keith with the world, but due to his tattooing I would absolutely make him show me papers. I love him, but I also love my body and my ability to put myself first.

I will want him to get tested not b/c I think he has cheated or will cheat, but he has already had 7 new tats done since he went in and who knows how many by the time he gets out.

I believe most places do test them, so I would ask to see the papers. And I would be willing to show him mine.
There are some things such as HIV that can take time to show up which is why I think periodic testing is so important.

I agree! I'm going to be doing the SAME thing as well

Think about it, you've gone 'x' amount of months without doing anything. Why not stop, get tested, wait a minute, get the tests back and if everything is clear with BOTH partners then get it on :P.

I plan on finding out what his date of release is, and finding the closest clinic

The first night will be nothing but hanging out with family and a few close friends, then holding each other as we fall asleep. As that is what we miss the most. HONESTLY. Don't get me wrong, the sex is AMAZING, but just to be able to hold each other again >sigh< thats how it'll be until the tests come back

LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT HEPATITIS THOUGH!

Remember, some things that are needing to be tested for NEED to be ASKED to be tested for that particular thing

Its not just a hey I wanna see if I have anything. Its hey I need the standard STD test along with ::insert things here::- yeah they might cost an extra few bucks (if you dont have insurance or whatever) BUT its worth it if its saving your life, or his from a slow death

Here in Illinois they are tested when they arrive and when they leave prison so this is not an issue for us.

When inmates get out, some spread STD's, so a lot of states have implemented a practice such as testing them when they leave so they have it on paper whether they're clean or not. Ask to see it, if your state does it.

Mine does, and I'll take a peak at his papers, but I'm not worried about it, honestly. He knows I'll kill him if he ruins my sexual freedom.
