I am a student, half way through getting my AAS in Criminal Justice. After graduation, I will then go on to get a B.S. in Criminology, as a part time student.

I work full time, and attend school full time and on PTO full time.

I am a mother, and grandmother, but live alone.

Hi,
I just read your post. I am seeking to enter a Ph.D. program next fall and I am mother too. I was curious to know how you have managed being a full time med student with managing family life. My daughters are teenagers and I am really concerned about being able to spend time with them while managing the demands of a doctoral program. Any insight you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Ronnie

I'm a student as well... I already received my Associates Degree in Computer Information... and am working on my Bachelors.. I'll be done with school next April.
I work part-time, and I have a son... a cute little 8 year old (he'll be 9 Oct1) who has bigger feet than I do

I am a substitute teacher while I go to grad school. My BA is in criminal justice and im currently working on a masters in criminal justice. I wanna work with at-risk juveniles and do research, maybe teach elementry school or college. I am currently working on my thesis which has to do with the effects of the SHU on an inmates mental status. I am a single mom to a 8 yr old lil girl. Im really happy to see that so many of us women are educating our minds to make a difference in our communities.

Hi Ronnie, well I also worry cause one thing I have learned in my CJ studies is that kids who are left alone and dont have chores and stuff to keep them busy can easily get into trouble. My best friend and I help each other with babysitting and stuff, but we are in the grad program together( weve known each other since 6th grade ) Im lucky enough to have a great family who helps with babysitting while im at school 2 nights a week in the evenings. Luckily since im sub teaching i work during the same hours my daughter is in school. Its great cause then im home with her most nights to help with HW, cook dinner...etc. When i need to do alot of studying my parents will watch her on the weekend or i go to the library for the day while shes in school. It's a hard job but us women are strong, and we can do it!!!

I haven't decided between chemical engineering and astro-physics. So, I'm going for both until I decide. I'm also a full-time employee.
