Default Kidney Transplant

My brother is going to FMC Deven, how does BOP deal with inmates who need a transplant? Would BOP provide the medical care, testing and transportation needed for his kidney transplant? If any one has any info please respond.

If he can be sustained on dialysis without a transplant, they will do that instead, I suspect. You don't say how long he'll be in.

That is how the former governor of ARK Jim Guy Tucker got out early on caompassionate release because he needed a transplant but I think it was a liver one. My b/f did have a stint put in for his heart that the bop took him to Memphis for and was going to have heart surgery but then he had a hernia around heart and docs changed their mind. U never know you might look up the process for compassionate release.

BOP Compassionate Release rules can be found at:

18 U.S.C. 3582(c)(1)(A)(i) and 4205(g)

Link to pdf file is: http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2...8cfr571.61.pdf

The BOP has proposed new rules and comments were open until February 2007. I have not seen any new rule implemented yet though.
