Default Power of Attorney & Medical Power of Attorney

I read the Power of Attorney thread, but want to make sure I have this clear, plus I have another question. Am I right in thinking that I contact an attorney & get a document made up giving me power of attorney & then send it to him to be signed & notarized? He wants me to find out about his retirement & possible pension. Also, do I get a separate form to have a medical power of attorney? He has a couple of conditions that aren't bothering him now, but we both are terified of being kept alive or treated when death would be preferable. He wants me to be able to have the power to "pull the plug" for him. Can I authorize him to do the same for me even though he is incarcerated? Thank you in advance for any information.

He can do a power of attorney that includes medical. He can get it done in there by one of the legal guys... For the last part--they wouldn't let him out to "pull the plug" or anything if you ended up in ICU etc so he couldn't do it while incarcerated......

He did his own and had it notarized by his RUM at the time.
